Angel Reese is missing time due to a nagging back injury, but the Chicago Sky forward is still working on her brand with her first signature shoes set to drop next month
Chicago Sky superstar Angel Reese claimed her signature sneaker drop will go worldwide with the shoe set to launch next month.
Reese has been absent from Sky action for some time as she battles injury. The 23-year-old has not featured for Sky since July 29, and she is currently dealing with a back injury that has seen her miss their last six games.
Earlier this week, Reese shared a cryptic post on social media, thought to be hinting she won’t be rushed back from her back injury. However, while she is cheering the Sky on from the sidelines, the 23-year-old is excited for the launch of her signature shoe.
Halfway through her sophomore season, Reese has proved to be a fan favorite and has made entrepreneurial moves to expand her brand. She has released merch and is now releasing her first-ever shoe, the AR1s.
The AR1s were initially planned to be released next year. However, they will be available for purchase on September 18.
Fans are naturally incredibly excited for the drop. When one user asked Reese on X if she would be doing a tour around the launch of the AR1, the Sky star expressed her excitement for the launch and the promotion surrounding it.

Reese has been forced to miss an extended period with injuries, derailing her second season in the WNBA. Before she went down, Reese put up 14.2 points and a league-leading 12.6 rebounds.
Her hustle, motor, and dominance on the glass is a trait that cannot be taught. She has the tools to become the greatest rebounder in league history amid her impressive start to life in the WNBA.
Reese’s impact also extends beyond traditional statistics. She has set a WNBA record by becoming the fastest player to reach both 600 points and 600 rebounds in a season. Additionally, she recorded four consecutive games with 15 or more rebounds, a feat previously unmatched in league history.
However, her absence has simply added another layer to the Sky’s disappointing season. Kamilla Cardoso has failed to take a leap this season, and the team has struggled to find momentum en route to possessing the second-worst record in the WNBA, just two games clear of the Connecticut Sun.
The 8-24 Sky have little hope for the remainder of the season, and Reese may not return to action. Chicago take on the Golden State Valkyries in their next contest on Friday, Aug. 15.
